Pujya Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji with his infinite compassion instills in his devotees the essential qualities for success through the various paths of Bhakti, Karma, Jnana, Nada and Raja yoga. All the various activities of Pujya Swamiji around the globe are streamlined towards establishing peace and happiness by helping seekers discover that the divinity within us is one and the same as the divinity around us. We pray to Pujya Swamiji to help us live by that divine truth.

The following Bhajan by Pujya Swamiji is an inspiration for Datta Deepam. Pujya Swamiji's Bhajan expounds very beautifully the importance of Datta Nama and how to conduct ourselves during our life by kindling the light of Knowledge in each of us.

In this Bhajan Sri Swamji brings out the efficacy of "Datta Nama". We see that the divine word "Datta" is repeated several times. It shines as our Sadguru who is our ultimate goal.

Datta is compared with a light that illuminates knowledge in us and dispels the darkness of ignorance. As it glows this amazing light spreads and benefits the entire universe. As the wisdom shines it helps to burn the cycle of Karma. It burns the individual's deep sorrows and hardships into ashes. It shatters the darkness of Maya (illusion). It extinguishes those desires that, like grasshoppers, flit about our minds.

During the period of our education, the Datta Deepam (lamp of knowledge) inculcates humility in us (Vidya Vinayena shobhate - Modesty Adorns Knowledge). While we pursue our livelihood, it enables us to walk the right path. It enjoins us to empathize with others and show compassion to those less privileged.

Datta Deepam (lamp of knowledge) enables us to realize God with sincere inquisitiveness and good faith. It sparks the glow of devotion firmly in our hearts. It is only the grace of the Guru that can kindle this light of wisdom, which shines without a blemish when the wick is rightly soaked in the oil of Vedic knowledge through proper Sadhana
